Guidelines for operation of Premium Rate Services from the Callagenix site
Callagenix strictly observe the ICSTIS guidelines for operation of Premium
Rate services. This means that Callagenix impose certain restrictions on anyone
wishing to operate a Callagenix service on a premium rate telephone number.
In brief the restrictions are:
- Callagenix will block any calls (at the time of the call) to a Call Diversion,
Group Divert or Call Recording service that have been received by a service
attached to a premium rate telephone number unless prior approval has been
received in writing from ICSTIS for that service. This is because ICSTIS rules
require their prior approval of any 'live operator' premium rate services.
- Callagenix will apply a maximum call charge £5 in maximum before
forcing a call to be terminated. This is again in compliance with ICSTIS rules
regarding what they will allow without requiring prior approval.
- Callagenix will immediately terminate any service on any premium rate number
which is likely to cause offence or is held to be obscene or illegal.
According to ICSTIS guidelines, services that will require prior approval
are:
- All services which involve "live conversation" - for example,
helplines answered by engineers.
- Services charged at more than £1.00 per minute where the total cost
of the call can exceed £5.00.
- Services with a visual element - such as computer bulletin-board services.
Fax services are not included within this definition.
- Consumer credit services - such as credit brokerage and debt counselling
services.
- Pay for product services where the total call cost can exceed £5.00.
Pay for product services are services which allow callers' details to be taken
in order for a product or document to be sent to them (usually by post).
- Services charged at more than £1.50 per minute - although please note
that at the time of writing, no such tariff is available
If your intended service does not fall into one of the above categories and
you comply with the Callagenix terms and conditions for operation of premium
rate services then you can confidently attach you service to your chosen premium
rate number.
If you are planning to incorporate premium rate services into your Callagenix
portfolio of services then we recommend you review the ICSTIS guidelines and
codes of practice. For more information visit www.icstis.org.uk.
