viewing fax images

Viewing your Fax Messages

Faxes sent to your fax number/service will be stored in an account mailbox and optionally sent to you as e-mail attachments (TIFF format). To view the fax from your email simply open the attachment. If you have problems viewing the fax, you may need to install a fax viewer (image viewer).

Later versions of Microsoft Windows 95® and Windows NT® include a viewer (WANGIMG.EXE) that can be found in the "Accessories" folder. The Windows® 98, ME and 2000 operating system includes an image previewer (KODAKPRV.EXE) and image editor (KODAKIMG.EXE).

What is TIFF Format?

TIFF, or Tagged Image File Format, is an image file format that allows the interchange of digital image data. The TIFF format is ideal for fax images, since it supports multi-page data (unlike formats such as JPG or GIF). TIFF is supported by all major operating systems, including Windows, Macintosh® and UNIX. There are also TIFF viewers available as plug-ins for Web browsers. TIFF is used by fax board manufacturers, most scanner manufacturers and desktop publishing applications.
